Description

Miramella is dedicated to the study and conservation of orthopterans—locusts, crickets, grasshoppers, mantises, earwigs, cockroaches, and others—particularly in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Who are we?

Miramella is dedicated to the study and conservation of orthopteroids

grasshoppers, crickets, locusts, mantises, earwigs, cockroaches... particularly in the Rhône-Alpes region.

It aims to:

  • develop scientific, technical, and educational tools to better understand and preserve orthopteroids and share its initiatives,
  • conduct various types of studies on orthoptera (distribution, ecology, monitoring, etc.),
  • promote the preservation of natural habitats by taking into account notable orthopterans.

Atlas of Orthoptera in the Rhône-Alpes Region: its primary purpose is to facilitate the dissemination of naturalist knowledge in the region,

- it contributes to assessing the status of species at the departmental, regional, national, and biogeographic levels,

- and above all, it is the result of a long-term effort involving bibliographic research, field surveys, data collection, compilation, and analysis of information provided by numerous observers.

It could not exist without the support of all those—whether beginners or seasoned experts—who roam the beautiful meadows (among other habitats favorable to grasshoppers) of our region and share their observations with dedicated coordinators, who, chained to their computers, methodically compile them for as many years as necessary to bring them to publication!
