Description

The establishment of sustainable societies is imperative and urgent. We must explore ways to achieve this through three essential and inseparable levels of action:

  • the individual level, because nothing can be achieved without each person’s awareness and behavioral change.
  • the level of collective alternatives that contribute to the implementation of transitions.
  • the level of public policy, because no transition will be possible without the implementation of national and international laws and regulations promoting sustainability.

Our missions

Friends of the Earth fights together for people, the planet, and future generations to:

  • Meet the basic needs of everyone.
  • Respect our planet and leave a livable world for our children.
  • Share natural resources equitably.
  • Everyone’s right to live and work in a healthy environment, and the duty to preserve it.

Our methods:

Investigating

Through a series of reports and in-depth analyses, we examine the actions of elected officials and corporations to expose practices that undermine respect for ecosystems and human rights.

Friends of the Earth are whistleblowers who, thanks to their expertise, challenge politicians and multinational corporations to exert pressure and bring about change.

Mobilize

Whether through nonviolent civil disobedience actions or marches, every citizen can participate at their own level within the Friends of the Earth network.

Advocacy

We use advocacy actions to influence laws and legislation. This influence serves as a vital counterbalance to multinational corporations and the lobbying they engage in across economic, political, and media spheres.

Taking legal action

When multinationals or governments fail to comply with laws aimed at protecting the climate, the environment, and citizens,  Friends of the Earth, as part of its toolkit, can file lawsuits to compel them to comply with the law.

Every two years, Friends of the Earth co-organizes the Tour Alternatiba event, which travels the roads of France to promote local alternatives.
