To promote the conservation, protection, and preservation of land, freshwater, and marine turtles.

Conceived in 2007 and founded in early 2009 by a group of enthusiasts, the League for the Protection of Turtles has the following mission:

• To educate the public about the protection and conservation of turtles, as well as biodiversity in general, with a particular focus on children who, we hope, will remember our visits to their schools or Nature Festivals as they grow up.  
• To contribute, through our actions, to the conservation and protection of the last remaining wild turtles in our region.  
• To create a sanctuary/transit center designed to keep the turtles entrusted to us safe from traffickers before they can be rehomed with individuals holding an ADP (Prefectural Possession Permit) or a CDC (Certificate of Competence).
• Lobby the authorities to ban, on French territory, the trade of all turtles regardless of their origin—a trade that fuels trafficking.  
• Combat the practice of collecting, which leads to theft and predation.
• Help our members comply with the law.
• Advise turtle owners to ensure compliance with Article L214-1 of the Rural Code: Since every animal is a sentient being, its owner must provide conditions compatible with the biological needs of its species.
