Description

The "Hameaux Léger" is an eco-friendly, community-driven living space, often created with the support of the local municipality

In Placis (near Dinan), eight reversible homes and shared spaces have been built on a buildable municipal plot of approximately 4,700 square meters, made available through an 80-year long-term lease.

To minimize the impact on the climate and biodiversity, all structures rest on lightweight foundations; the use of local and bio-based materials is encouraged, and concrete is prohibited.  Thus, CO2 emissions from construction are drastically reduced and soil life is preserved.

Homes aim to be “energy-positive,” thanks to energy production (solar thermal, photovoltaic) but above all to a massive reduction in consumption (small size, high-performance insulation, limiting the number of energy-intensive appliances).  Similarly, water consumption is minimized (dry toilets) and rainwater is collected and reused.

Work was carried out with the architect from Bâtiments de France to facilitate the integration of the dwellings and common areas into the local architectural and landscape heritage.

The development plan was designed to preserve the site’s rich biodiversity as much as possible.

The placement of the common areas was carefully considered to facilitate interactions with the village residents and, in this way as well, encourage exchanges and socializing

To promote sharing and simplicity, living spaces (laundry room, guest room, common rooms, bike shed), tools, and assets (vehicles) are shared.
