Description

Since 2011, Envol Vert has been working to preserve forests and biodiversity in Colombia, France, and Peru, while building strong ties with local communities to support their conservation efforts, contribute to sustainable rural development, and develop economic alternatives to deforestation.

The SEVE project aims to involve citizens in sustainable forest management, support forest owners, and encourage the artisanal timber industry in the Haut-Languedoc region.

Recognizing the richness of the Haut-Languedoc’s forests, the Envol Vert association is launching its new SEVE project in 2021 with the dual objective of developing multifunctional and resilient forestry, in which citizens are active participants, and of supporting a local artisanal timber industry.

In this context, Envol Vert plans to:

  • The creation and facilitation of a group of volunteer forest owners to enhance the value of their forests, both economically and in terms of the other services—social, environmental, and educational—they can provide,
  • Supporting the artisanal wood sector to make it more accessible to future builders and to promote it,
  • The establishment and support of a Citizen Forestry Group based on participatory governance. The financial aid and training provided will enable the purchase and sustainable management of forest plots,
  • Raising awareness among the general public and schoolchildren by organizing activities to explore and preserve the forest: educational walks, meetings with woodworking professionals, workshops, etc.
