Difficulty level :
LACIM is a nonprofit organization under the French Law of 1901. A French NGO founded in 1968. Non-partisan and non-denominational. Recognized as a public interest organization in 1984.
Projects initiated at the request of villages or communities in the Global South
These projects address the priority needs of local populations: access to water, education, healthcare, food self-sufficiency through agroecology, income-generating activities...
The French group funds the project of its partner organization, which contributes directly to its implementation.
On the ground, local LACIM staff work to implement the projects in partnership with associations in the country concerned. From France, volunteer project officers travel to the field to assess requests, monitor, and evaluate actions, ensuring they align with LACIM’s guidelines.
Training
Every project to be carried out or that has been carried out requires training.
Skills must be learned: making compost, setting up a fund to cover the maintenance of a well or a millet mill, creating a committee to manage microcredit repayments…
Training followed by several years of follow-up ensures the project’s success.
Supporting communities until they achieve self-sufficiency is at the heart of LACIM’s work.
