In 2022, the Bordeaux metropolitan area is offering local organizations the opportunity to secure land and funding to reforest the region: this is the “Let’s Plant 1 Million Trees!” project.
In Pessac, an 800-square-meter grassy plot serves as a path for elementary schoolchildren. Quite naturally, the design focuses on crops at the right height for the area’s main users: strawberries, raspberries, redcurrants, and blackcurrants, as well as salad trees, hazelnut trees, and fig trees…
At the same time, a number of forest species are being planted to provide shade and enhance ecosystem stability.
