Since its founding in December 2020, the Éco Solid'Ère association has been raising awareness among the general public and children by offering practical alternatives for adopting more sustainable lifestyles. This involves learning to consume differently in the areas of food, energy, and waste management, including through the use of recycling techniques.
OUR INITIATIVES:
The Éco Solid'Ère festival takes place on the grounds of the former Hôtel-Dieu hospital, always on the first weekend of June.
This magnificent wooded setting hosted approximately 90 exhibitors at the 2025 edition, focusing on the themes of sorting, recycling, reuse, water, new energy sources, agriculture, and DIY.
Over 1,500 visitors attended this year’s event.
ÉCOL'O Day, bringing together teachers and elementary and secondary school classes, takes shape through a partnership where teachers and Éco Solid'Ère jointly select, in various formats, themes related to sustainable development.
OUR PROJECTS
PALLET RECYCLING: As awareness of the need to preserve our natural resources grows, 440 million pallets are being repurposed. Unfortunately, however, 60 million are still being destroyed. These are called disposable pallets. Éco Solid’Ère has been working locally for five years by partnering with companies that have chosen to stop discarding their pallets and instead take the time to bring them to its workshop.
CIRCULAR ECONOMY FOR PLASTIC/CARDBOARD: A local recycling and processing network for Type 150102 plastic (hard, flexible, or colored) and cardboard has therefore been established in the town of Châtillon. The compactor used reduces the volume of plastic and cardboard by a factor of 30, forming stackable cubes. These cubes are sent to the company EGT Environnement—with which Éco Solid’ère has entered into a partnership to collect this plastic and cardboard. EGT’s role is to sort and recompress them so they can be reintroduced into a recycling stream specific to their operations
WOOD PELLET PRODUCTION: “The pallet furniture workshop in Sainte-Olive produces a lot of sawdust; we need to do something with it.” Since one of our partners is Cafés Dagobert, these two members decided to combine the association’s waste with that of this partner (coffee grounds and coffee filters) to create wood pellets! Coffee grounds and coffee filters actually have a calorific value equal to or even higher than certain types of wood.
