Discover and protect nature

The erosion of biodiversity and the climate crisis are pushing us more than ever to take action. Join Le Pic Vert to learn more about the natural riches of your region and take part in conservation and restoration efforts.  Come to share, participate, and meet other nature enthusiasts.

Our missions

    Protect natural areas

Le Pic Vert lobbies authorities to protect as many natural areas as possible using available regulatory tools: Prefectural Decree for Biotope Protection (APPB), Sensitive Natural Area (ENS), Natura 2000 zones...  Le Pic Vert has sought to supplement this by taking control of degraded areas, such as former landfills or abandoned quarries, through management agreements and land acquisitions.  Pic Vert restores these sites and demonstrates that biodiversity loss is not inevitable.

Le Pic Vert manages 10 protected natural areas

    Environmental Education

Nature and environmental education is a major focus and a priority of our organizational project. This focus has been part of Le Pic Vert’s activities for many years, and we wish to develop it even further.  Through nature walks, slide shows and presentations in schools, in collaboration with recreation centers, and for businesses or the general public, Le Pic Vert contributes to the Environmental Education movement.

    Waste reduction

Avoiding the consumption of raw materials helps conserve natural resources, whether renewable or not. Reducing waste production helps limit one’s environmental footprint.  For several years now, we have been offering activities in November during European Waste Reduction Week (EWWR). Our compotes and soups made from unsold supermarket produce were a huge success in 2019.  We host hands-on workshops during various environmental awareness days to introduce the general public to alternatives to traditional packaging
