Description

A nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting agroforestry techniques and the management of edible forests, based in Léognan (33)

Our association aims to bring together individuals, institutions, schools, and professionals in agriculture and food to collaboratively build edible forests. This is an opportunity to reconcile biodiversity, nature, and its protection with food and work. When we pool our energies to share best practices and participate in a sustainable project, the journey matters just as much as the destination.

A small 700-square-meter space in the heart of the magnificent Pontaulic Park in Léognan, the Pontaulic Edible Forest is a local community project, Les Racines de Pontaulic, funded by the Gironde department through a participatory budget.

The site’s goal is to serve as an agroecological experimental laboratory, open to all, and firmly focused on education. Since 2021, the space has been growing and evolving through design workshops, planting seasons, and successive developments.

It is a living space for people, with a special focus on biodiversity: staggered blooming periods, deadwood, living soil, nesting opportunities, and wild hedgerows. It is the first resilience island to have been created.
