Description

The association ÉCORCE was founded in 2005 with the aim of

“promote eco-construction.”

That is, the construction or renovation of a building in a way that best respects the environment and people.

Respecting the environment through the use of natural and local materials that are energy-efficient, along with techniques that save energy, recycle waste, and blend into the landscape.

Respecting people—builders and residents alike—by using natural, healthy materials and construction methods that ensure comfort and health in the home.

Écorce offers:

- tours of eco-friendly homes

- lectures

- a network of professionals

- training sessions

- activities for young people.

Eco-construction uses natural, healthy, local, and low-energy-consumption materials, as well as techniques that save energy,  recycle waste, blend into the landscape, and ensure comfort and health for both builders and residents.

The association currently has about a hundred individual members and some twenty professionals.  Every month we organize a tour of an eco-built or eco-renovated home. Once a month we offer a lecture on various topics (bioclimatic design, ventilation, humidity management, sanitation...)  as well as practical training sessions lasting 1, 2, 3, or 5 days (timber framing, straw bale construction, earth plastering, dry stone masonry, etc.).

We have gradually built up a library of specialized books on eco-construction, available for free loan to our members.  To date, we have over 150 books, plus the magazines La Maison Écologique and Maisons Paysannes de France.

Since 2015, we have also offered tool rentals: toolboxes, screwdrivers, alligator saws, mixers, masonry equipment...

The ÉCORCE association was founded in 2005 with the aim of “promoting eco-construction.” This means creating or renovating a building in a way that best respects the environment and people.

What do we do?

To achieve its goal of promoting eco-construction, ÉCORCE has defined four key areas:

  •  Raising awareness
  • Training
  • Support
  • Collaborate

Training: Écorce is a Qualiopi-certified training organization.
We offer short training courses on various topics related to eco-friendly housing.

ÉCORCE supports households facing energy insecurity as part of a project we affectionately call "Chaud Dedans!"

ÉCORCE also offers support services for the installation of self-built ecological sanitation systems: dry toilets and wood chip filters (pedo-purification).
