The Faire à cheval network is an association whose unique approach lies in bringing together, under one umbrella, various stakeholders in the field of working horses: local governments that utilize horses, professionals and service providers in the world of working horse-drawn teams, agricultural stakeholders, as well as associations and citizens who are convinced of the value of using horses in today’s society. The association aims to bridge the gap between horse power and sustainable development, with the goal of establishing the horse as a viable alternative to carbon-based solutions. Based in the Armorican region, the association has one full-time position funded by the Brittany region and relies on the volunteer work of about ten members.
OUR APPLICATIONS
Mechanical Weeding: Maintenance of Urban Areas
In the era of “Zero Phyto,” the use of horses offers a very attractive alternative for completely clean mechanical weeding.
Mulching with an auxiliary engine: Maintenance of natural areas
Grass mulching is currently performed using horse-drawn vehicles only with the aid of a thermal-powered auxiliary engine. However, the horse-drawn solution proves particularly effective and offers cost-effectiveness comparable to that of motorized traction.
Horse-drawn passenger transport: Transporting people
When it comes to passenger transport with horses, the question quickly turns to passenger capacity. Horse-drawn carriages often have a significant empty weight, which can limit the number of passengers accordingly.
Cleaning hiking trails with pack donkeys: Maintenance of natural areas
Pack donkeys can be used to clear hiking trails and paths. Although small and light, donkeys are capable of carrying relatively heavy loads. They can therefore serve as valuable assistants in trail maintenance, particularly for removing large debris. Their assistance can be invaluable in areas inaccessible to motorized vehicles.
Hiking with Pack Donkeys: Tourism, Commerce, and More
A great way to enjoy the company of equines is through pack donkey treks. Typically offered as day trips, these treks utilize our donkey friends to carry picnic supplies or any other heavy loads.
We offer training in horse-drawn transport and equestrian tourism guiding.
