Nature Conservation and Preservation Initiatives

 Nature En Occitanie is a nature conservation organization that carries out numerous initiatives to preserve the region’s natural habitats, wildlife, and flora.   A non-profit organization, Nature En Occitanie has, with over 50 years of experience,   a key player in the protection of the region’s natural heritage and has, over the years, forged strong partnerships with community and institutional organizations at the regional and national levels.  

Our missions

• Improving knowledge of biodiversity, monitoring and protecting areas and species (A prerequisite for undertaking actions to protect and manage species and their habitats.)
• Supporting local communities in better addressing biodiversity issues.   For nearly 10 years now, supporting and raising public awareness of biodiversity issues has become a priority: Green and Blue Infrastructure, Municipal Biodiversity Atlas, Territory Committed to Nature...
• Awareness-raising, training, and environmental education (Nature Outing Program, naturalist training, and awareness-raising materials for all audiences)
• Sustainable management of spaces and species. Managing natural areas, either through direct management or by supporting those who wish to take action (local authorities, individuals, professionals, businesses, etc.) to ensure land use planning that is compatible with the preservation and proper functioning of our natural heritage.
• Ecological monitoring. Nature En Occitanie acts as an ecological watchdog to ensure that land use planning and the use of nature occur in compliance with the law, as early as possible in the project cycle to inform project owners,   or when violations are detected (destruction of protected species, damage
