Halage, founded in 1994, is a nonprofit organization under the French Law of 1901, accredited as a "Structure for Integration through Economic Activity" and a center for continuing professional education in the field of landscaping.
The association’s mission is to mobilize all human and natural resources—whether excluded or degraded—in urban and peri-urban areas, with a view toward sustainable development.
To this end, the association:
The association runs several integration projects across various regions of Île-de-France (Seine-Saint-Denis, Hauts-de-Seine, Paris, Val d’Oise), and over the years has acquired technical and environmental expertise to enhance the banks of the Seine, rehabilitate urban brownfields and abandoned railway lands, create educational or shared gardens, and develop and maintain private or public landscaped spaces…
The association holds social utility accreditation (ESUS) across all these regions and is also a member of the Chantier-école Ile-de-France network.
Since 2003, the association has operated a training center authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture to offer the CAPA in Landscape Construction. Since then, it has continuously expanded its certification programs (CAPA in Rural Area Maintenance, Professional Landscape Worker Certification, and CQP for Versatile Employees) and skill-building initiatives.
Since 2010, Halage has maintained a community garden located in the Goutte d'Or neighborhood of Paris’s 18th arrondissement.
Furthermore, Halage is focusing part of its activities on urban gardening (vegetables, flowers) and is finding its place within this movement of nature reinventing itself in the city.
