LLUNAM (PEPR SOLU-BIOD) is a “living lab”—in other words, a multi-stakeholder action-research initiative that brings together researchers and societal actors (local governments, associations, businesses, resident groups, etc.) to jointly investigate, design, test, and evaluate Nature-based Solutions across the Montpellier metropolitan area, ranging from the city center to suburban and agricultural zones.
Nature-based Solutions are approaches to the protection, restoration, or management of ecosystems that effectively address various societal challenges (climate change, natural hazards, water supply, etc.) while ensuring human well-being and benefits for biodiversity. A Nature-based Solution in the city may involve, for example, the restoration of waterways and their riparian forests, the removal of impervious surfaces, greening, etc.
Our mission is to connect the various stakeholders and support them in jointly developing their projects for the research, design, testing, and evaluation of NBS.
