Structure : THE DEUX BOUTS FARM
France
Vayres
New Aquitaine
Difficulty level :
La Ferme Deux Bouts is an agroforestry vegetable farming work integration program (ACI).
The ACI’s mission is to welcome, hire, and provide employment for unemployed individuals facing social and professional challenges.
At the farm, we cultivate about thirty varieties of organic, seasonal vegetables on two hectares of open-field and protected land. These vegetables are harvested by hand when ripe and are available for direct sale.
We prioritize living-soil market gardening (MSV), which promotes natural soil fertility by minimizing tillage and adding organic matter. To achieve this, we use carbon-rich inputs, permanent mulching, and green manure (horsetail, comfrey, etc.) to restore and maintain a living soil while conserving water.
We restore ecological corridors to preserve species biodiversity and encourage the return of beneficial insects essential to the natural cycle.
Our vegetables are harvested by hand at peak ripeness to preserve their flavor and nutritional value.
We sell our produce on-site on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Our Mission
Since the launch of Deux Bouts, the association’s ambition has been to have a positive, sustainable, and far-reaching impact on the integration of its target audience, as well as on the promotion of sustainable, local, and nutritious food.
The Deux Bouts concept aims to be effective in achieving its goals, self-sufficient, and replicable.
The short-term goal is to consolidate our model, measure our impact, and ensure the robustness of our business model.
In the medium and long term, we aim to expand across the region and become a leading model for market gardening on living soil.
