"It's the same concept as Leboncoin, but free": the Cabane à Partage, an eco-friendly concept that has won over the residents of a small village
For the past two years, Canaples, a small town of 700 residents in the Somme region, has been home to a Cabane à Partage. An eco-friendly space where anyone can drop off toys, dishes, books, or small furniture in good condition that they no longer use and wish to get rid of. Conversely, anyone can freely take the item they want. A sharing space that is always bustling and runs thanks to about fifteen volunteers.
Clearing out your closets for the common good
The principle is simple: everyone, whether they’re from Canaples or not, is invited to drop off whatever they have too much of in their closets. “We all have unused items at the back of our closets. But please note, we do not accept clothing, shoes, or sharp objects. No medications or hazardous products either," insists Adéline Temmermann, one of the key figures behind this initiative.
And for the past two years, the “shack of generosity” has been constantly full.
Especially since the Sharing Shed is also used to give away garden surplus: apples, quinces, Jerusalem artichokes. And that, in these times of crisis, is very useful.
