The Faures Garden development project was conceived as part of the building restoration studies for the Faures Gensan block. The heart of this block, abandoned following the decline of its former artisanal and small-scale industrial activities, had lain fallow for several decades.
A project carried out with the City and residents
inCité acquired the land parcels and prepared them to accommodate a “garden” activity using permaculture and raised beds. At the same time, the City of Bordeaux initiated a consultation process with neighborhood stakeholders, residents, and associations to define the site’s uses and management model.
The Georges Dorignac Community Garden Association was founded in early 2020. With about twenty members, it is responsible for managing and organizing activities at this new community garden, which will be open to the public on a limited basis (residents, schools, etc.).
It is a community garden intended for residents and organizations in the Saint Michel neighborhood and is managed by the Georges Dorignac Garden Association
