Guide: Agroforestry to Facilitate the Establishment of Useful Tree and Hedge Plantations

The Agroforestry Fund enables companies to finance tree planting and support farmers in customized agroforestry projects.

Each year, the Agroforestry Fund supports farmers in carrying out their agroforestry projects throughout mainland France and its overseas territories. All farming systems are eligible (field crops, livestock, arboriculture, viticulture, vegetable farming, etc.).

The goal: to facilitate the implementation of tree and hedge plantings that benefit your production system, while preserving your farm’s natural resources. 

Designed as a tool for regional solidarity, the Agroforestry Fund enables companies to directly support farmers in implementing agroforestry projects. Each project is custom-designed, supported over the long term, and carried out with the assistance of a specialized technician.

ELIGIBILITY
The program is open to all farmers, landowners, or agricultural organizations in mainland France or overseas territories, regardless of their production. 

• You must have active agricultural status. 
• You must be supported by a technical organization specializing in agroforestry (required). 

What types of plantings?
No fixed list of tree species or layout is required. You may propose: 

• hedgerows, 
• rows within plots, 
• forage trees, 
• grazed orchards, 
• shade structures for animals, 
• etc. 

What matters is that the project meets a need on your farm and is technically sound. 

Technical support: 

• provided for 3 years by a technician from the agroforestry network (see attached map
• with regular follow-up visits, 
• co-financing available depending on the project’s complexity

Since 2020, thanks to the support of more than 50 corporate sponsors: 

• over 250,000 trees have been planted, 
• over 450 agricultural projects have been supported, 
• over 3,500 hectares have been committed to an agroecological transition,
