Description

French Association for the Protection of Gorillas and Other Primates

The choice of the gorilla stems from the urgency of its situation. The dangers threatening this species are habitat loss and poaching.

GORILLA’s work consists of:

  • Funding or co-funding active conservation projects for great apes, in close collaboration with the authorities of the countries concerned.
  • Supporting anti-poaching patrols (purchasing equipment, granting bonuses, etc.)
  • Protecting natural habitats
  • Educate and raise awareness among indigenous communities (creation of nature clubs, support for environmental radio stations, etc.)
  • Support other great ape conservation programs.
  • Seeking the truth about the circumstances of Dian Fossey’s death in Rwanda.

Gorilla’s intervention:

Gorilla has intervened in RWANDA to protect MOUNTAIN GORILLAS, but also in the CONGO,  by sponsoring the CONKOUATI SANCTUARY run by Help Congo, whose efforts aim to reintroduce orphaned CHIMPANZES into a wildlife reserve rich in wildlife (lowland gorillas, forest elephants, etc.).

It is now committed to providing active support to the KAHUZI-BIEGA NATIONAL PARK in the DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO, where the EASTERN LOWLAND GORILLAS, or GRAUERI GORILLAS, survive,

National parks were created to protect wildlife. Almost everywhere, populations of great apes are declining due to poaching and the destruction of their natural habitat.  Concerned about the impacts on wildlife resulting from poaching, it is therefore imperative to support the work of anti-poaching patrols.

Destroying the forest means causing thousands of animal and plant species to disappear; it means killing millions of animals

Therefore, to save the rainforest and the great apes, take a close look at where the raw material for the wood product you are considering purchasing comes from, and follow this advice: stop buying exotic wood!
