What is community-based transportation?
The principle of solidarity-based transportation is to connect volunteer drivers —or employees in job-integration programs—with passengers who cannot or can no longer get around, to help them with their daily trips (medical and administrative appointments, errands, visits to loved ones…). Solidarity-based transportation goes far beyond simply getting people from point A to point B: it is, above all, a support initiative designed to break the isolation of older adults and foster genuine social connections in suburban and rural areas.
