Structure : Odysseus 3.1
France
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Difficulty level :
An organization dedicated to the exploration and research of wild flora and fauna, spearheading concrete initiatives to preserve natural habitats and raise public awareness
EXPLORATION on land, in water, underwater, and in space…Where Nature leaves a small place for humans
Scientific RESEARCH on natural and human-altered environments with the aim of studying and preserving wildlife
Nature conservation initiatives, conferences, educational programs, events, books, and documentaries
PASSING ON knowledge to future generations, raising public awareness about environmental protection
OUR ACTIONS:
Odysseus 3.1 Expeditions
is an organization dedicated to exploring our world and researching wild flora and fauna.
Each of our expeditions is conducted with a constant commitment to respecting the natural environment we observe, with the humility and respect due to the other species that live there.
EX: GLACIALIS – Lake Sassolo
By receiving precipitation and storing it as water, snow, or ice in its glaciers, lakes, or artificial reservoirs, the Alps are considered “Europe’s Water Tower.”
And this is particularly true of this area at the bottom of the Maggia Valley in Switzerland, where there are no fewer than 150 lakes, including “Lago di Sassolo,” located at an altitude of 2,074 meters.
Extreme diving under 3 meters of ice for scientific purposes…
Operations
To raise public awareness of the need to protect nature, Odysseus 3.1 takes concrete action by going where nature is threatened
. We identify these areas either through our own investigations or based on specific reports or substantiated information.
EX1: OP – Grand Large
Dive New Sentinel Operation at the Grand Large in Meyzieu, where 24 motivated divers, backed by the unwavering support of a close-knit team of volunteers, are working to restore oxygen to this aquatic environment.
A three-part mission: clearing pollution from the seabed, restoring an artificial habitat to preserve the biodiversity of this water reserve, and exploring the remnants of the past. In total, 202 tires were removed from the Grand Large basin
EX2: In 3 hours, we will bring exactly 109 scooters to the surface, and with them, just as many lithium batteries will be removed. To date, a sad record of efficiency…
Protected
Areas Odysseus 3.1 actively works to preserve ecosystems with the goal of maintaining the environmental richness of these natural areas of significant biological and ecological interest.
Based on “L’île aux Oiseaux” on the Saône, designated an LPO Refuge, we are working to secure protected status for other sites.
EX: L’île aux Oiseaux – Rhône
In 2018, Odysseus 3.1 became the tenant of an island located on the right bank of the Saône, 20 km from Lyon, specifically in St Germain de Mont D’or. Officially named “L’Ile aux Oiseaux,” it is located within the “Val de Saône Méridional” ZNIEFF.
