Establishing an edible forest in the Flandre-Lys Community of Municipalities

An association established to support a community-driven project aimed at creating an edible forest within the Flandre-Lys Community of Communes. The forest is intended to eventually host educational tours and help establish other community-based edible forests.

OUR OBJECTIVES:

• - to be a driving force in the ecological transition and the protection of the natural environment through all the co-benefits derived from these new wooded areas (soil protection, soil fertility, the water cycle, a cooling effect, carbon sequestration, and the restoration of associated biodiversity);
• - ultimately support local autonomy and solidarity;
• - encourage learning about the cultivation of any edible or ornamental plant on the fruit forest site

OUR ACTIONS:

• - create and develop fruit forests;
• - maintain these orchard forests, including planting, development, pruning, watering, and harvesting;
• - promote agroforestry and organic farming;
• - promote food-producing reforestation through volunteer development,
• - organizing the monitoring of food forest gardens,
• - raise public awareness of environmental issues and the importance of biodiversity;
• - organize events (workshops, guided tours, inaugurations, etc.) related to its activities;
• - organize the sale, on a permanent or occasional basis, of any product or service related to the association’s purpose
