Description

Cap Termer is a non-profit environmental education organization established in 2000. It is located in Lège-Cap Ferret and conducts most of its activities from “La Cabane du Résinier” on the side of Departmental Road 106, at one of the entrances to the Arès-Lège-Cap Ferret Salt Marsh Nature Reserve.

The Cap Termer team consists of a nature guide who welcomes visitors to the Cabane and oversees the association’s activities. Volunteers also help out on an ad hoc basis to support events throughout the year. From time to time, interns join the team to develop their professional skills.

Hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Activities:

Guided tour of the Prés Salés
Nature Reserve
Binoculars in hand, come explore the Nature Reserve with the help of a nature guide. Fox tracks, wild boar wallows, otter droppings, or even a crab trying to pinch your fingers—this site is teeming with life when you take the time to notice the small details. Binoculars available for loan.

Family
Scavenger Hunt and Clues
Come take on fun challenges within the nature reserve: games of skill, discovering clues, solving puzzles, and quizzes to help you learn more about the site’s history and biodiversity.

Shellfish and Crustaceans
Equipped with a bucket and a net, this activity takes place with your feet in the water at low tide. Search for small intertidal creatures, learn about them, measure them, and respect minimum catch sizes; every animal caught is released after you’ve had a chance to observe and handle it gently.

Ocean
Shores
Come discover the secrets of the ocean dunes: formation, erosion, the high-tide line, and the animals and plants that inhabit these environments. Questions, quizzes, and challenges await!

La Cabane du Résinier is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Depending on outdoor temperatures, La Cabane du Résinier may close. Feel free to call us to find out if we’re open!
