Description

The CARROUSEL: A Community Center for Everyone

A place where very different people come together: neighborhood residents, residents, partner organizations (Gammes, The Salvation Army, Radio FM+), and any organization or person of good will.

A place for projects developed by everyone to build connections and help solve concrete problems through broad collaboration.

Our values

Our guiding principle is “Those who are different come together and create together.” Based on the Protestant values of secularism, free inquiry, and solidarity—particularly through volunteerism—the  “CARROUSEL” goes beyond mere coexistence and is committed to dynamic collaboration among all people, regardless of the wide diversity of their origins, beliefs, social status, knowledge, standard of living, and skills.

Our Goals

  • To promote the integration of people facing social difficulties and/or vulnerability into the community, regardless of the causes of these vulnerabilities, as well as French and international students
  • To promote their collaboration in the design and implementation of cultural, social, and economic activities, alongside all other actors in society,
  • Participate in sociocultural activities in the neighborhood and throughout the city

To broaden the scope of possibilities, we are preparing, according to the needs and proposals that are sure to emerge:

  • cultural activities (choir, dance, lectures, music, drawing and painting, virtual museum tours, etc.)
  • physical activities (exercise classes adapted to different ages or conditions, yoga, etc.)
  • training activities (public speaking, with FM+ radio, storytelling for children, academic and family support, with our partners)
  • mentoring, employment support, and a workshop to assist with business creation
  • open meetings between neighborhood associations and residents (women, youth, children, sharing of jointly developed solutions to facilitate community life…)
