Create an oasis (honey-producing forest) for wild pollinators to boost biodiversity

 The honey forest project led by the Marinapis association, La Forêt Mellifère, will create an oasis for wild pollinators and thus enable the entire biodiversity chain to become sustainably established on the site.

The Austrian black pine was often the pioneer tree chosen by foresters for its ability to adapt to dry soils, hot summers, cold winters, heavily degraded soils, and even rock.  It is found in monoculture in half of these cases. Lou Malivers is a forest located on the Sauveterre plateau. The black pine monoculture plantation has not been maintained. There are virtually no honey-producing resources.  The association “Marinapis La Forêt Mellifère” aims to transform this land into a honey-producing forest capable of providing resources for pollinators and other animals throughout the year.  All of this while taking into account climate change and forestry needs. The first objective is to restore biodiversity.  The second is to protect the endemic black bee and other wild pollinators and allow them to thrive in their ancestral habitat, which is the forest edge.  All while practicing natural beekeeping that respects the bees.
