Conservation and Enhancement of Biodiversity in Wetlands

Founded in 2009 (as a nonprofit organization under the French Law of 1901), the association’s objectives are:
• To preserve and promote the biodiversity of Valence’s canals, springs, and wetlands.
• To improve the quality of life.
• To protect the landscape.

To best achieve our objectives, we have a comprehensive list of actions:

• • Conducting an inventory of the canals (canal beds, banks, sluice gates, wash houses, etc.).
• • Cleaning the canals and their banks.
• • Participation in working groups with government agencies.
• • Monitoring the condition of the canals and combating pollution and discharges.
• • Inventory of animal and plant species along the canals.

​We are committed to sharing our knowledge through various educational activities:

• • Guided tours of the canals and wetlands focusing on flora and fauna.
• • Exhibitions and slide shows on the biodiversity of the canals. 
• • Workshops, educational tours, and outreach activities in schools.
• • Participation in local events.
• • Lectures (at retirement homes, public libraries, etc.).

DISCOVER THE WETLANDS!

 Sensitive Natural Areas (ENS) are at the heart of departmental councils’ environmental policies. They contribute to the green and blue infrastructure established following the Grenelle Environment Forum and are part of the Regional Ecological Coherence Plan that the national government and regional councils have been required to implement since 2011, working in particular with their departmental partners.
