Description

This guide offers solutions to help you compost and make better use of your food and plant scraps, whether you live in an apartment or a house, with or without a yard.

Often mistakenly considered waste, food scraps are actually valuable resources for our gardens, balconies, neighborhood green spaces, and local agriculture. Composting nourishes the soil in our Mediterranean region, which is in such need of organic matter.

It also means reducing the amount of waste sent to incinerators by 25% over time. Today, leftovers, peelings, uneaten food, and even small plant matter account for more than a third of our gray trash and end up directly in the incinerator.

Shared composting areas are made available to residents in public spaces. These compost bins are open to everyone, and site coordinators ensure they are properly maintained.

The best waste is the kind that doesn’t exist!

Thanks to compost, the soil:

  • Become more fertile—compost nourishes plants
  • Become more vibrant, and therefore healthier, and promote biodiversity.
  • By using our compost, we reduce our need for potting soil or chemical fertilizers.
  • These products are expensive and often come from far away...
  • They emit CO2 throughout the entire process, from manufacturing to transportation.
