Community-based educational mandala garden using permaculture principles

Le Jardin des Hérissons is an educational mandala garden run by a nonprofit organization (under the French "Law of 1901"), established in the spring of 2021 at 47 La Ville Josse in the town of Evran (22630), in the Côtes d’Armor department. Here, we apply the principles of agroecology and permaculture.

Thanks to the expertise of our facilitators, who are all volunteers, we have been offering gardening workshops open to everyone, support for professionals, and mandala garden designs since 2017.

Half-day themed workshops

• Greenhouse preparation, sowing, and planting
• Soil analysis, creating raised beds and compost
• Plant care and fermented extracts (liquid manure), observation (wild plants)
• Vegetative propagation (cuttings, seeds, etc.) and the lunar calendar
• Winterizing the garden, preserving vegetables in winter

From April to October, by appointment only, we also offer guided tours of the “mandala garden,” as well as a permanent exhibition of artwork by local artists.

The creative upcycling workshop “Reprendre la Main,” located on-site, can assist you with your project using recycled materials (e.g., wooden pallets).
