Founded in 2016 by a group of residents from the Diois region in the Drôme department, Les Jardins Nourriciers offers an innovative approach to agriculture that takes into account ecological, economic, and social criteria.
The association has set itself the goal of developing a model of collective agriculture by growing vegetables with and for its members. Participation in the gardens provides access to the produce at favorable terms.
Another distinctive feature of the gardens is the decision to reclaim only unused agricultural land that is in the process of being abandoned. These plots are entrusted to the association by owners who no longer have the time or desire to farm them.
In 2021, the association cultivates more than one hectare of farmland divided into various plots that were once neglected but have now been transformed into diverse, productive gardens.
The garden: the association has developed agroecological techniques based on regularly enriching its soil, mulching crops as soon as temperatures rise, and covering the soil in certain gardens during the winter. Inspired by permaculture and agroecology, the association’s gardeners do everything possible to ensure healthy and diverse crops. The seeds used are heirloom, non-hybrid seeds, an increasing portion of which are harvested directly from the gardens
Les Jardins Nourriciers offers its members three ways to receive vegetables:
The Tool Library: Rental and loan of gardening
equipment The Jardins Nourriciers association has a variety of power tools available for rent by association members.
Agroecological and organic
seeds and seedlings To meet the needs of the gardens made available to the association, Les Jardins Nourriciers produces its own seedlings of vegetable varieties, herbs, and beneficial plants
