Description

This circular economy project aims to significantly reduce the digital divide. To achieve this, the nonprofit collects old computer equipment and refurbishes it with the help of students.

Once refurbished, these computers are fully functional for all of the students’ schoolwork. There are currently 34 recycling workshops in schools within the Nice school district. The repaired computers are donated to students who lack them; 1,000 machines have been distributed over the past 14 months.

Create about 100 workshops to recycle the 4,000 computersreplaced each year. Indeed, it is impossible to do proper schoolwork in middle and high school with just a phone or a tablet.

It is structured around three main pillars:

1) A social focus on bridging the digital divide and ensuring equal opportunities for academic success

2) An educational focus: students in the workshops will acquire very practical skills in computer maintenance

3) An environmental focus: we aim to give this equipment a second life and demonstrate that consumer goods should be used for as long as possible before considering disposal.
