An intergenerational, bioclimatic living space that minimizes its ecological footprint.

Founded in 2015 by the local association “Maisons Ecoé,” the collective—now known as “La Caminade”—has developed an intergenerational, bioclimatic living space that minimizes its ecological footprint.

It chose to organize itself as a residents’ cooperative, the legal structure most consistent with its values: solidarity, pooling of resources, shared and self-managed governance, social diversity, and no real estate speculation.

Located in the Carmes neighborhood, the complex consists of three buildings and a community center on a large hillside lot:

• Three small new buildings, 17 units ranging from studios to four-bedroom apartments, 13 of which are PLS (Social Rental Loans)
• Multi-purpose indoor common areas: an activity room open to the neighborhood, a meeting room, a quiet room, shared guest rooms, a laundry room, a workshop…
• Shared outdoor spaces: garden, terraced natural areas with trees, vegetable garden…
