Structure : The Madness of Solidarity

Occitanie
Difficulty level :
The City of Montpellier and Altemed have granted us a plot of land in the Beausoleil ZAC near the Beausoleil Clinic, across from Jules Guesdes High School, to build our 22-unit apartment building.
We will be less than a 20-minute walk from downtown Montpellier, close to public transportation, to minimize our carbon footprint. We envision a community-oriented, intergenerational living space where everyone can find their place and eventually grow old at home. To that end, we have placed accessibility for all residents at the heart of our values.
Some units will be available for purchase under a solidarity-based lease (BRS) for eligible households, while others will be available for open-market purchase. Additional units will be available for rent, either through a residents’ cooperative or as social housing.
The neighborhood is designed as a peaceful urban living environment with extensive green spaces, pedestrian- and bike-friendly pathways, social diversity blending different types of buildings, activities, and residents, and proximity to cultural, educational, and medical facilities.
Our purpose:
Our residents’ collective is organized around a charter of shared values and rules, with solidarity at its core. In our project, this translates into a commitment to openness toward the neighborhood and community engagement, a desire to contribute to our social environment, and a vision of daily life together marked by care and attentiveness
Since residents are actively involved during the building’s design phases, the quality of use will be optimal in terms of both the environment and accessibility.
The purpose of La Folie Solidaire
“La Folie Solidaire is an intergenerational participatory housing community that champions a different way of living through co-managed common spaces, fostering conviviality and sharing, and whose ambition is to put universal accessibility, mutual aid, and solidarity among its residents into practice.
Above all, as citizens, we advocate for civic engagement in collective projects that foster tolerance and openness, contributing to a more united and environmentally responsible world, by involving everyone, regardless of their background, accessibility needs, or age.”
