Description

We heard the birds singing during Car-Free Day and during the lockdown. We were finally able to open our windows and breathe deeply.

But 2 million cars, scooters, trucks... are back on the roads every day, as if it were inevitable. NO.

We want to live EVERY DAY in a city that’s breathable, welcoming, and embraces nature.

We want private cars and motorized two-wheelers to become the exception in Paris. It’s vital for our health and for rising to the climate challenge.

A “car-free” city is first and foremost a city “with” its residents

Sustainable transformations of the city

More and more pedestrian and bike zones

We don’t want a single special day followed by 364 days choked by cars.
That’s why we applaud the sustainable changes the City has made since the 2015 Car-Free Day. The Champs-Élysées has been pedestrianized one Sunday a month since 2016. The number of “Paris Respire” zones is growing every year. The center of Paris is becoming more pedestrian-friendly. The cycling network is expanding. Streets are being pedestrianized in front of schools.

But there is still much to be done. We encourage the City to go much further with courage, speed, and determination so that private cars become the exception.

We must improve future Car-Free Days

So that everyone can enjoy them safely and to drive lasting behavioral changes

We call on the City of Paris, the RATP, and Île-de-France Mobilités to do everything in their power to significantly reduce traffic from cars and motorized two-wheelers and to promote the reclamation of streets through festive community events.
