Third place in a rural setting

The only business in the village, the café-concert L’Éprouvette, was established and formally registered in early 2022.

A cooperative society of collective interest (SCIC),  L’Éprouvette Coop was created to develop a rural cultural, social, and food-focused third place in Saint-André-des-Eaux, with the support of the town hall and the investment of numerous members representing various stakeholders:  local producers, residents, employees, local associations… 

L’Éprouvette’s mission is to foster mutual aid and a sense of community, intergenerational connections, access to culture, and local, sustainable food.

This third place brings together several activities: 

• - a bistro
• - cultural events
• - a social space
• - a grocery store: The grocery store works with over 25 local producers and 3–4 wholesalers to supplement what is not produced in our region.
• - a community cafeteria
• - a shared garden
• - a coworking space 
• - a restaurant
