Description

Permabondance Nurseries is an organization dedicated to promoting edible forests and raising awareness about the natural world

. Our goals are to strengthen the food and ecological resilience of local communities.

 The organization aims to put trees and edible perennials back at the center of our diets and societies, because in temperate climates, nature tends toward the forest. We have decided to draw inspiration from this and emulate it to recreate sustainable agriculture and balanced relationships with the natural world.

Since 2020, we have been planting an edible and educational forest. This space serves as a conservatory where we preserve species and varieties that we propagate and distribute through our nurseries.

Other food-producing areas are also present on the site (such as the permaculture garden, sensory experience areas, etc.). Approximately 300 perennial and edible species are found on our site.

.

The association’s activities are organized into four areas:

  1. Raising awareness of the natural world through educational activities, immersive training programs on-site, and online content (e.g., workshops, guided tours, immersive training programs, and online educational resources for citizens, schools, businesses, and local governments);
  1. Nurseries for food-producing reforestation through the cultivation of hardy trees and perennials—all of which are edible or useful—in our nurseries (i.e., the artisanal production of over 300 species of edible trees and perennials adapted to the local environment);
  1. Nutrient-rich reforestation of regions through the design and planting of edible forests (e.g., support for public and private projects: assessment, design, planting, and ecological monitoring);
  1. Agronomic and social research aimed at creating and regenerating edible ecosystems, through experiments and explorations of our relationship with the living world (e.g., experiments, scientific partnerships, social and philosophical research, and the development of reproducible data and methodologies).
