Founded in 1998 in Montpellier, the Compagnons Bâtisseurs help people in need improve their living conditions. For more than 20 years, the Occitanie chapter has expanded, and its activities have grown to cover the Hérault and neighboring departments
In partnership with local stakeholders (local governments, local government officials, public housing providers, family allowance agencies, social workers, associations, and foundations), we support people in their self-renovation projects through various approaches:
- Supported self-renovation through neighborhood workshops for tenants in both the private and public housing sectors
- Supported self-renovation for owner-occupiers
- Supported self-renovation for co-owners of the common areas in small condominiums
OUR HOUSING INITIATIVES
- Supported Self-Renovation
- Energy Poverty and Energy Efficiency: We help homeowners undertake energy-efficient renovations—such as insulation, ventilation, heating, and bathroom upgrades—and encourage landlords to do the same
- Bricobus: The Bricobus is a community-based initiative that allows you to meet housing professionals and receive free DIY training to perform maintenance work and improve your home with the help of your neighbors. The Bricobus vehicles travel the roads to assist homeowners and renters in need (for more information, call 06 78 38 97 96).
- Soli’bât Building Materials Platform: Through the Soli’bât platforms, we collect donated building materials from suppliers, companies, and tradespeople—including unsold items, excess inventory, and leftover materials from completed projects… We use these materials to help households facing substandard housing and energy poverty who are unable to finance their own renovation projects.
