The Pévèle Community Third Place

We are a group of residents from Landas and the surrounding villages committed to creating a “third place” in the town of Landas. Our project serves as a central hub for social connection, raising awareness about eco-citizenship, low-tech solutions, sustainable transportation, and the concept of the common good.

Over the past year and a half, Le Bocal has hosted about ten events: bike rides, a garden festival, music nights, swap meets, workshops… All of these stemmed from an idea proposed by one of us. This evening is the time for us to come together to brainstorm projects and events for the coming year, decide what to continue, what to create anew, and who wants to get involved.

In Landas

Residents are collectively purchasing the land to eventually create a space for gatherings, participatory exchanges, culture, and rural services—and are working to convince institutions and funders to support the project moving forward.

In Genech

The municipality is purchasing the land and inviting residents and organizations to come and bring it to life.

Both models are valuable. Neither is better than the other; each has its strengths and weaknesses. What struck us is that, beyond the specific approaches, the desire is shared: to foster, in our community, places where residents can come together, create, share, and work together. Living together!
