Environmental Initiatives to Protect the Natural Heritage of the Nîmes Region

The Association for Communication, Exchange, and Employment is a Nîmes-based social integration organization founded in February 1994.

 The work site was established in Nîmes in 1994 and currently employs 17 workers on CDDI contracts.

They work to maintain and enhance a garrigue area (the Mas d’Escattes municipal area) in partnership with the City of Nîmes

5 areas of activity: 

• Construction and renovation of historic structures (dry stone walls, capitelles, low walls, etc.)

• Maintenance of garrigue landscapes: (fire prevention, brush clearing, pruning, tree felling, etc.)

• Olive tree cultivation: pruning, soil amendment, harvesting, etc.

• Composting:
  As part of an agreement with Nîmes Métropole, employees assist with the maintenance of community and residential composting sites.

• Maintenance of Nîmes Métropole’s multi-activity trails: This project was launched in Nîmes in October 2015 in partnership with Nîmes Métropole
