Arbres et Paysages d’Autan is an organization that has been working since 1995 to promote the role of native trees and rural hedgerows in the Haute-Garonne region. It draws on the multifaceted role of trees outside of forests, which offer numerous benefits:

Let Nature Grow and Manage Sustainably
Let’s take advantage of the natural ability of trees and shrubs to grow, let nature take its course, and adopt sustainable ways to manage what already exists.

Simple actions to implement

• Designate an area to evolve naturally, where human intervention will be limited
• Identify and select naturally occurring trees to protect them from mowing and wildlife
• Reduce the frequency of mowing to allow trees to take root

Seek guidance from Arbres et Paysages d’Autan The guidance includes:

• – Delineating the regeneration area
• – Identifying and protecting the vegetation present on-site
• – Advice on management practices to promote regeneration using appropriate techniques
• – The provision of plants certified as “Végétal Local” to diversify the species present
• – Provision of an awareness sign about assisted natural regeneration (in digital format, to be printed by the planters)
• – Monitoring of the area twice during the first four years.
