Creating community gardens through a participatory project using recycled materials

Our Goals

Regardless of the location, every project led by Les Agribains aims to:

• Help children develop an appreciation for and understanding of the natural world through outdoor education, active learning, and workshops focused on gardening, sustainable food, and ecology.
• Contribute to the ecological transition and strengthen biodiversity by transforming underutilized urban spaces into natural areas through sustainable practices such as permaculture, composting, and the circular economy.
• Ensure a living environment conducive to health and well-being by increasing nature in the city, promoting biodiversity, and adopting practices that respect the soil and air.
• Fostering connection, dialogue, and community through inclusive, intergenerational outdoor gathering spaces that promote tranquility and social cohesion.

Our approach:

Our Areas of Focus:

Activities: We guide children, residents, students, and nursing home residents in the garden, where we share moments that reconnect everyone with nature. These activities invite us to observe, understand, and marvel together at what brings the garden to life.

Landscaping and DIY: In the gardens we design, we create spaces built to last alongside the people who will bring them to life. These projects offer an opportunity to collaborate on designing practical, communal spaces that are truly suited to everyday life.

During these projects, we reuse materials available in the city—such as wood, pallets, and salvaged items—to give them a new purpose in the garden.

Production and Maintenance: We care for the natural spaces we manage by prioritizing eco-friendly maintenance that respects the cycles of life and the on-site reuse of materials. Maintenance is an integral part of our work: sustainable mowing, gentle pruning, and on-site management of plant debris. Nothing is wasted; everything returns to the soil or is used to enrich other spaces we manage.
