For more than 50 years, the Colinéo association has been committed to promoting biodiversity through protection, preservation, and environmental education.
Accredited by the Ministry of National Education as well as the Ministry of Youth and Adult Education, the association also holds “Environmental Protection” accreditation under the Environmental Code.
True to its mission of “Act, Preserve, Educate,” Colinéo is an interdepartmental nonprofit association that now operates across a wide territory through interconnected activity centers that complement one another: Naturalist & Scientific, Environmental and Sustainable Development Education, Urban Planning & Legal Affairs, and the Conservatory of Restanques, Orchards, and Mediterranean Gardens.
Our Initiatives
- Volunteer nature work camps: These work camps aim to engage diverse groups in collective actions tied to a shared project of general and social interest, with the goal of improving the local environment. They take place on Wednesday mornings throughout the year.
Various tasks are carried out depending on each person’s interests and skills: clearing and maintaining the site, tending the herb garden, working the soil and watering the plants, doing odd jobs, picking fruit from the orchard (figs, blackberries, plums, pomegranates), helping with the vegetable harvest, etc.
- Conservatoire des Restanques Sales Stands: We sell products from the Conservatoire des Restanques, the Orchard, and the Mediterranean Garden at our market stalls. The vegetables are grown from organic seeds on our terraced fields in Marseille’s 13th arrondissement. We do not use any pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
Products for sale: seasonal vegetables, herbs, honey…
The market is held inside our chalet at the entrance to the site every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.,
There you’ll find: The vegetable garden, its heirloom vegetables and the herb
garden The orchard and its heirloom
fruits The Mediterranean garden The
bioclimatic building (2016–2021): The first completed section of our facility consists of outdoor restrooms, a meeting room, and a kitchen.
The second part of the building is dedicated to educational activities.
