The Geckologis association works to promote civic, ecological, and societal change in its local community. It is a nonprofit association established under the French Law of 1901

The Geckologis Association’s mission is centered on three main areas:

• ​Raising awareness about frugality and the responsible use of resources;
•  ​Raising awareness about pursuing a way of life in harmony with one’s human and natural environment (through cooperation, sharing, better community living, well-being, and a connection to living things);
•   ​Participating in the development of local economic and cultural activities;

The Geckologis association is now the organization:

•  that manages the common spaces of the Geckologis Cooperative through a management delegation agreement;
• that works to develop various activities and projects, open to the outside world, connected to the local area, and in line with its values.

Location: The Geckologis project is based in the Gard department (30), in Sanilhac-Sagriès, a town of 860 residents bordering Uzès, approximately 10 km from the Pont du Gard and 20 km from Nîmes.

 It is situated on a 4,300 m² plot located southwest of the Vedel Haut eco-neighborhood, an eco-neighborhood conceived by the municipal team during the previous term (2015–2020) and now a reality.

​ The Vedel Haut eco-neighborhood:

​On a 2-hectare plot, nestled northeast of the village of Sanilhac, dotted with holm oaks, junipers, and olive trees, and close to the Gorges du Gardon nature reserve, you’ll find:

​to the northwest, 6 individual lots;

​in the southwest, the Geckologis lot;

​to the northeast, a complex of 10 public housing units, a construction project entrusted to a public housing provider

​to the southeast, 5 individual lots;

​in the center, a 2,000 m² community olive grove, to be maintained and managed by all residents of the eco-neighborhood, organized as a voluntary homeowners’ association.

The implementation of our urban planning and architectural project is based on the principles of sustainable development, consistent with the development of the eco-neighborhood in which it is situated

 An urban design that is open to the village and its community and cultural life.

La Kasanou is our communal building. It is a space that meets public access standards (ERP) and can accommodate 50 people. It features a large common room with a “fireplace corner,” a kitchen and pantry, accessible restrooms, outdoor dry toilets, and a communal workshop. Its management is entrusted to the Geckologis association.

Open to the community, the Kasanou facilitates a wide range of activities aligned with our values, organized by the Geckologis association or by member organizations.
