Development of educational activities, visitor services, knowledge transfer, and education on the environment and sustainable development

Objective: To establish and operate a farm located at 1410 Chemin du Mas de la Bedosse in Alès, made available by the Les Champs d’Avène Endowment Fund; The purpose of this site is to develop educational activities, host visitors, share knowledge, and promote environmental education and sustainable development; The management of the natural area will be carried out with a focus on preserving and enhancing biodiversity; the productive plots will be farmed using agroecological methods, in accordance with organic farming standards, and with a focus on improving soil health, soil enrichment, and thus its natural productive capacity

ACTIONS: “Les Jardins de la Bedosse”: the farm that supports our school

May the children who attend our school come into contact with “living things”—with what evolves, what is born and what dies, what is almost unpredictable, what is governed by the seasons, what nourishes us, what transforms: the grain in the earth, the ear of grain, the harvest, and once again the grain…

This is the purpose of the “Jardins de la Bedosse” farm, the nonprofit organization created to carry out this project.

We have the land, a well, and a greenhouse. Since this summer, we’ve been able to acquire the necessary equipment to water the gardens and provide water for the horses…

There are a few hundred kilograms of potatoes destined for the cafeteria. Future harvests will also go to the cafeteria, for the children’s meals. Any surplus will be offered for sale to association members, at the middle school, or at the elementary school.
