THE PROJECT
Committed and determined, we aim to support local professionals in sorting organic waste at the source—which accounts for between 30 and 50% of our household waste—and composting it to recover its value. DIOIS COMPOST was therefore founded to offer a solution for diverting and repurposing food scraps from kitchens and dining tables throughout the Diois Valley.
We aim to do our part to protect the environment by reducing waste transport across the 51 municipalities of the Diois region and by enriching fields and gardens with the future compost that will be produced at our site.
Our goal is therefore to offer residents and businesses in the Diois region that generate food waste and organic waste (kitchen and table scraps containing meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products) collection services for these materials so they can be repurposed through composting. These collections will be carried out by truck or bicycle, depending on the volume and type of service requested. Restaurants, florists, supermarkets, campgrounds, produce stands, cafeterias, etc.—we’ll support you every step of the way, from setting up sorting systems to the actual collection :)
We will be working with the support of the Communauté des Communes du Diois, which is now a technical partner of DIOIS COMPOST and is awaiting the implementation of this project.
Every business that signs a contract with DIOIS COMPOST will have access to an app to monitor in real time the weight of waste collected from their location and will receive a “commercial support document” (DAC) serving as proof that their business sorts and processes its compostable waste.
Since its inception, Diois Compost has successfully processed 32,810 kg of biowaste, thereby initiating the composting process, which takes approximately one year.
Collections, carried out once or twice a week as needed, are tracked via a dedicated platform, ensuring transparent traceability. On a 1,500 m² site, the waste undergoes sorting to guarantee the quality of the raw materials.
