Naturama, an association based in Sainte Colombe (69), near Vienne (38), aims to improve the relationship between humans and their environment, with a focus on protecting nature.

Founded in 2000, the association works with local governments, schools, and businesses to achieve its goal.

Naturama has several ways of achieving this:

The St-Cyr-sur-le-Rhône Nature Education Center

In a 5-hectare park across from Vienne, Naturama organizes numerous activities for groups (elementary and middle schools, daycare centers, businesses, nursing homes, recreation centers, family activity centers, etc.)

The “Les Naturamis” Traveling Farm: The Traveling Educational Farm comes to your facility. During its visit, Naturama transforms your outdoor space into a real little corner of a farm. Young and old alike can see, touch, and interact with the animals.

Chickens in the City

A lasting connection with nature and animals, learning about sustainable development (kitchen scraps), gaining knowledge about farm animals and their products… these are just some of the benefits provided by having a chicken coop at school, in a daycare center, or even in a nursing home

Since 2024, Naturama has installed its chicken coops in three municipal daycare centers in the City of Lyon.

Sheep in the City

Naturama aims to serve as a bridge, bringing the benefits of nature to as many people as possible—especially those who have the least access to it. In 2022, the Association launched the “Sheep in the City” project in collaboration with the City of Givors, winner of the “Quartier Fertile” project. The primary goal of this initiative is to test a new, more eco-friendly approach to managing green spaces in one of the city’s Priority Neighborhoods.

Animal-Assisted Therapy

Animal-assisted therapy sessions are designed for a variety of participants: youth in ITEP programs, children and adults with disabilities, and seniors. Together, we share a moment with the animals: we can pet them, brush them, and feed them. 

Landscape Interpretation

Landscape interpretation helps children discover the world around them, strengthening the connection between their environment and the animals that live there. For example, field trips to an educational pond help children understand how it works (habitat, food chain, life cycles of dragonflies, frogs, etc.).

The Water Cycle

In partnership with SUEZ, Naturama offers several activities on the theme of water: the natural and urban water cycles, the “water bar” activity, the wastewater treatment plant experience, raising awareness about water conservation and eco-citizenship, and catching frogs and “little critters.”

Insect Hotels

Against the backdrop of a global collapse in biodiversity, Naturama is working to raise awareness among children (at recreation centers, schools, etc.), youth (high school students), and adults (residents of nursing homes, corporate employees, the general public, etc.) about the conservation of flora and fauna in all environments. Building insect hotels is an ideal way to tackle this challenge in an interactive manner.

Creating Vegetable Gardens

Naturama offers a program to create educational vegetable gardens over four sessions spread throughout the year, with the help of our facilitators, the teachers leading the project, and the Maison de l’Environnement of the Lyon Metropolitan Area.

Nature Activities in Special Education Institutions

Naturama offers nature-based activities in special education settings (Medical-Educational Institutes, etc.). Nature serves as a medium for discovery, self-expression, and experimentation. Through hands-on (gardening, building) and sensory activities, we aim to provide education BY and FOR the environment

Meetings with Farmers

Naturama offers opportunities to explore agriculture and its current challenges, meet farmers, and visit their farms.
