Les Choux Lents is a cooperative housing project located on the outskirts of Lyon, in Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d’Or. Seven households have lived there since 2012, sharing both private and common spaces. Part of the construction was carried out through self-build using sustainable materials.
There are seven apartments, a laundry room, guest rooms, a living room, a shared kitchen (in addition to private kitchens), a multipurpose room, a garden, and more, all housed in a complex of stone and rammed-earth buildings dating back to 1850. Beyond the physical space, Les Choux Lents is a collective centered around ecology (in both housing and lifestyle), compassionate communication, and self-renovation.
When you come to visit us, you can tour the buildings, which have been renovated into apartments and shared spaces. You can also discuss our daily living rules (meal planning, car sharing, meetings...) or our non-speculative legal and financial structure.
