Description

Le Grand Large is an artificial lake in the heart of eastern Lyon. This 60-hectare artificial lake, located between Décines-Charpieu and Meyzieu, offers an exceptional setting for relaxation and outdoor recreation, just a few kilometers from Lyon.

The association conducts underwater cleanup operations in Le Grand Large. Observation and inventory of species in Le Grand Large

Who are we?

We are a team of diving and nature enthusiasts. We have worked all over the world in the field of scuba diving instruction—some of us professionally, while others are volunteers regularly involved in underwater cleanup efforts (in the Rhône and Saône rivers).

Objectives:

 - To clear the basin of visible urban pollution and ensure the long-term biodiversity of the existing flora and fauna.
- To catalog the basin’s biodiversity, including underwater flora and fauna, and monitor it over time.

Approximately 150 kg of small debris per dive; it is impossible to retrieve large objects such as cars, as the association does not have the necessary equipment for such operations.

The dives are conducted in collaboration with the Odysseus 3.1 association.
