Montpellier's first non-profit cooperative and community-owned supermarket

La Cagette is a non-profit, cooperative, and participatory supermarket open to everyone, where members volunteer three hours every four weeks and are the sole owners,  the sole decision-makers, and the sole customers. 

The goal is to offer an alternative to large-scale retail that is accessible to everyone 

• A complete range of products: food, personal care, and household cleaning. 
• A non-profit supermarket: no dividends paid. 
• Everything is reinvested in the cooperative. 
• Total transparency regarding the profit margin
• A place for exchange, sharing, and discussion about food. 

And fighting against food inequality: 

• Enabling everyone to improve their diet regardless of their means or beliefs
• Fairly compensating producers
• Building sustainable and transparent supply chains together, local whenever possible.
