Protecting and Promoting Cultivated Biodiversity in the Mediterranean

The Shared Mediterranean Conservatory is an association bringing together a network of public and private stakeholders specializing in the conservation, use, and promotion of the Mediterranean’s cultivated biodiversity. Its scope of action encompasses agriculture and all forms of heritage—both genetic and human—associated with it.

Through the accumulation and sharing of knowledge, the association pursues a threefold objective:

• To conserve biological diversity, particularly local, rare, ancient, and regional plant species.
• To collect and disseminate best agricultural practices and regional Mediterranean know-how.
• To promote these cultivated resources by implementing socio-economic projects that contribute to the sustainable development of local areas.
